Why am I a follower of the Lord Jesus?

I was one of ten children born to a Catholic family.  Baptized and confirmed at an early age, I attended public schools.  Catechism classes and annual retreats in high school with mass attendance strengthened my faith in accepting Jesus Christ as my Savior.  My faith ebbed and flowed in my early years and took full root after my marriage and the birth of our children.  It became clear that life was without meaning if one did not allow Jesus to show the way, be a moral compass, and promise a new life when our journey on earth has been completed.

How do I follow Him?

How I follow Jesus Christ is simple. He leads me from nowhere I had this overwhelming feeling to volunteer as a lector at St. Walter. It was the Holy Spirit giving me the strength to proclaim the Word of God at Sunday Mass with the power to change people’s lives.  At Mass one Sunday, the Knights of Columbus were looking for new members and the Holy Spirit did it again. I have been a fourth degree Sir Knight for over twenty years supporting our Catholic faith, the K of C charities, especially the Newman Apostolate program which provides chapels, meeting spaces and support for Catholic students at public colleges.

Why am I a follower of the Lord Jesus?

I am a follower of the Lord Jesus because I believe in God: the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. God loves us and wants to deal personally with each of us. We are all created out of God’s love. How could you not follow Him?

How do I follow Him?

I follow Him in daily prayer and Eucharistic Adoration. I follow Him by feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, and sheltering the homeless. I accomplish this through my actions within the parish, as a Knight of Columbus, and as the head of a diocesan-wide Vocations organization, Patrons and Parents of Vocations.

Why am I a follower of the Lord Jesus?

When I was five years old, I remember my grandmother teaching me to pray and my grandfather ushering at 8:00 AM Mass on Sundays.  I was blessed that my parents sent me to Catholic schools through college. I had amazing experiences during those years that helped form a strong foundation for my Catholic faith and devotion to Jesus Christ.

How do I follow Him?

I try to be a joyful disciple by keeping in mind Jesus’ words “Love thy neighbor as thyself.”  As I am participating in my various ministries, I keep this “commandment” in mind.  It is very rewarding to serve others and I hope I am being a joyful disciple to them.

Why am I a follower of the Lord Jesus?

As a cradle Catholic, I am a follower of Jesus because everything in my being tells me to do so.  My day begins with prayer, and I am able to accomplish so much more when I put God first, giving thanks for all His gifts to me and my family.

How do I follow Him?

As a parishioner of St, Walter's since 2000, I love my church and strive to attend daily Mass, receive the Eucharist and pray the rosary.  Staying in God's grace and close to the sacraments is a must for me.  I am a greeter at Sunday Mass, active member in prayer groups, attend weekly bible study, and try to be a good friend and neighbor to all  in the hopes of meriting heaven one day.

Why am I a follower of the Lord Jesus?

My parents are my role models. They have always showed me the way to Christ and how important it is to go to church. For that, I am very thankful. My parents take me to church every weekend, even when we are out of town or on vacation. It is great to see that as Catholics, the readings are the same around the world. The message is very clear, Jesus died for our sins. We should love one another and help those in need. He said, “For whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”

How do I follow Him?

I follow Jesus by trying to be a kind, positive, and loving person. I enjoy being an Altar Server and helping my dad with Knights of Columbus family events. I look forward to preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation in the upcoming months and becoming a member of the youth group SWYM.

Why am I a follower of the Lord Jesus?

A few years ago I was struggling in my faith; and while I went to church regularly, something seemed amiss.  That’s when a friend introduced me to Cursillo, and that’s where I had what I like to call:  “My Spiritual Awakening”. And as I became more engrossed not only in the Mass but in other ministries too, I receive such a tremendous feeling of Joy that words cannot explain it. Since Cursillo, each Mass has been transformed from one of “Obligation” to one of “Celebration”. Christ died for me, for you, for all of us, and His love will bring us nothing but joy – if we only let it into our hearts.  And that’s why I’m a follower of Christ Jesus – to feel His love and the joy it brings to me.

How do I follow Him?

By praying a daily rosary for the intentions and needs of others (not just my own), reading the daily Scriptures, reading books on spirituality, offering a friendly hello or smile to a stranger; but most of all I’ve recognized that Christ needs to be at the center of my life. While I have many weak moments and days, I’ve learned how to hit my “Christ Reset Button” and shift that moment/day from one in which I put myself at the center to one in which I put Christ back in the center.  I’ve found that when I allow my world to revolve around Jesus Christ and not me…that’s when I feel I’m in complete harmony with God’s plans, and His love for me.

Why am I a follower of the Lord Jesus?

I have experienced and continue to have many moments in life when I know Jesus has said, “Come follow Me.”.  Although my father died when I was 8 years old, he instilled in me his great faith in Jesus.  After his death, my mother worked so hard to keep our family intact and afloat; her whole life she modeled that Love is never ending.  My husband, my mother-in-law, and their extended family have shared their unwavering Faith in the Lord by their love and support.  My RCIA sponsor taught me that Jesus is always with you and we never walk alone.  And our three beautiful children teach me every day “How Great Is Our God!”!

How do I follow Him?

I try to see others around me and all of creation through “Jesus’ Eyes”.  I try to be mindful of what Jesus would see and how He would act in each moment.  I strive to be His hands and feet.  I am also blessed to be a part of our Music Ministry which has helped me to grow closer to Jesus.  When I sing, I try to give voice to Jesus’ spirit and love in every word and note!

Why am I a follower of the Lord Jesus?

Jesus is the center of my faith. He is my Lord and Savior. He died on the cross as an ultimate proof of love. I am grateful for all of God’s countless blessings in my life. It is my strong faith that has sustained me through life’s ups & downs

How do I follow Him?

Living a life worthy of glorifying God’s love in words and actions everyday. Going to daily mass, receiving the Eucharist, praying the rosary, and other devotions take priority as my source of spiritual strength. Being a Lector, a Compassion Ministry member, a St. Walter’s Filipino Ministry officer, are service activities I value doing. I believe in giving a good example to my spouse, children, grandchildren and others. I find the most joy when I can help others with compassion, kindness, generosity, humility and love.

WHY AM I A FOLLOWER OF THE LORD JESUS?

The Holy Spirit has given me an intellect and as a unique person certain gifts. This leads to understand that the greatest gift on this earth is the Lord Jesus in the Eucharist. We follow the Lord Jesus in awe of a gift so profound. In my early years, I prayed for understanding and the Lord took me down a life’s path of unusual circumstances that could only have been His plan.

HOW DO I FOLLOW HIM?

I follow the Lord Jesus by being a Eucharistic Minister and helping as best I can, always trying to present good values, attribute blessings as gifts from the Lord and having a particular devotion to the Eucharist and the Holy Spirit.

WHY AM I A FOLLOWER OF THE LORD JESUS?
It is His Love! It is His Support! He is always there when I need these things to give me Strength, to give me Courage, to give me Guidance and to give me Comfort. Sometimes He may say “no” but I always know it is for the best.

HOW DO I FOLLOW HIM?

I try to watch for what is needed and try to fill that need. I know when I am not in control, He is to bring about the best resolution. For a coward like me, this is a wonderful thing and so I want to share it with others wherever He may lead me!

WHY AM I A FOLLOWER OF THE LORD JESUS?

It really is not about me. It is about  Jesus and his Love for all of us. His message is simple: Follow me.

God has put so much love and grace in our lives. I grew up in the Catholic Faith, kitty-corner from St. Walters. There are many people I still see at church and how great is that, from a little girl to now, to still have all of these loving and wonderful people in my life; guiding me on my path. Growing up my parents were very involved with the church and I couldn't have asked for a better gift from them; teaching me about Jesus Christ. Dad taught us the importance of going to church, being involved with the church and helping others. He gave us instruction on the many powerful prayers, from our church. He taught us how pray- er brings us closer to God and how we can change lives through prayer. Mom taught us the importance of having a personal rela- tionship with God. She taught us He is always with us and we need to take time to be with Him. He loves for us to talk with Him and most important to LISTEN. She taught us that we have a choice. We wake up each day and we decide if it is going to be a good day or bad. She always chose to have a good day. She choose to give her love, happiness and peace to others. She showed us how that changes lives in everyone we meet. I hope I follow in both their footsteps.

God gifts us limitlessly. It takes my breath away just thinking about all He does for us. His Beauty is all around us and there are not enough words or actions I could ever do to Thank Him for our many blessings.

HOW DO I FOLLOW HIM?

Jesus guides me into the many ministries that I am involved in. Some very fun, and I truly believe Jesus wants us to have fun and give praise to Him, like choir. As far as I am concerned God has quite a sense of humor. Other ministries are harder, like Minister of Care at Abbington House (nursing home), where we bring the Word of God to them but God always gives us back so much more. The love and words from the guests at Abbington House are often so uplifting to us.

Making my Cursillo weekend was a huge leap in my relation with God. Saying God Loves you is one thing. Truly believing and living a life knowing God Loves You is a whole other story. We learned at Cursillo to Make a friend, Be a friend and Bring a friend to Christ.  If you haven't made a weekend I would be glad to talk to you about it. MAKE ONE - it will CHANGE YOUR LIFE.

There will always be ups and downs in our life but if you hold out your hand God is always there, not only holding your hand, but wrapping Himself around You. Give your love and happiness away to everyone you meet. It is so amazing what Jesus can do with our hands.

WHY AM I A FOLLOWER OF THE LORD JESUS?

The Lord Jesus helped me see the error of my ways when I was making some pretty bad choices in my life. I also have had battles with types of anxiety and mild depression. But God made me see the light and led me to happiness. The Lord Jesus is my one true God and I will never stop loving and following him.

HOW DO I FOLLOW HIM?

I follow the Lord Jesus by attending church every Saturday/Sunday, at least as best as I can :) I'm in SWYM, teen choir, and I occasionally serve as an altar server or a Eucharistic minister. I intend to keep following Jesus in all ways I see fit toward the future.

WHY AM I A FOLLOWER OF THE LORD JESUS?

It took some time for me to discern whether I am a Fan or a Follower of the Lord Jesus. I can say, I am a Follower. I truly believe that Jesus died for our sins, rose from the dead and is very much alive today. I subscribed to His teachings, “Love One Another”. I appreciate Him for giving us life and all the good things we see, obtain and enjoy.  He might not be visible, but I know and believe that He hears and listens to my prayers. I talk to Him about my family, work and my problems. I always ask for forgiveness for my tribulations. I feel He replies. He enlightens me with directions and most often leads me to the pages of the Bible. I HAVE FAITH IN HIM.

HOW DO I FOLLOW HIM?

Every day I pray and talk to Jesus. As I wake up in the morning, I say, “Lord Jesus, thank you for giving me a night sleep, for waking me up, for giving me a new day, and for a good, long life. Today, I offer you my prayers, joys, happiness and sacrifices in all of my activities. I ask that you direct me in whatever way you want to use me for the Glory of God and for the benefit of our souls”. I join and volunteer at church activities, community and family religious gatherings. My wife and I help and do- nate whatever we can to families affected by unfore- seen events. I am and do Knights activities.

Why am I a follower of the Lord Jesus?

Life is a journey, with many good times, and many bad times. Through it all, having a belief and faith in Jesus that what is happening to me is all part of His plan, makes it easier for me to accept that life is proceeding as it should and that I am living the life I was meant to live.

How do I follow Him?

If I am going to love and follow Jesus, I have to care about and love everyone I meet in my daily journey. That is not always easy to do. I try to speak with the people I cross paths with through- out a day, sincerely caring about how they feel and how they are doing. I also try to donate my time to activities which help others, as much as I can. Serving God in this way provides me with a good feeling and the satisfaction that I can, and do, make a difference in other people’s lives.

Why am I a follower of the Lord Jesus?

When I was a little girl, my Mom encouraged me to go to church and when I was old enough I played the piano/organ at church. She also took me to Sunday Benediction Services. My Mom was a BIG PART in making me a follower of the Lord Jesus.

How do I follow Him?

I follow Jesus by attending Mass on Sunday and playing for the liturgies. I think of Him as my friend and through my prayers and the prayers of the other parishioners, I feel that He helped to cure me of my cancer and helped me through the treatments. I try to participate in extra activities like the Council of Catholic Women events when I am able.

Why am I a follower of the Lord Jesus?

I follow the Lord Jesus because of His deep and abiding love for me. The cross is a constant reminder of the ultimate sacrifice that He paid for my sins. It humbles me and reminds me that I too must make sacrifices by willingly sharing my time and resources to help others in need.

How do I follow Him?

I follow Him by praying daily and by reading meditations. I strive to be compassionate and kind to the people I meet throughout my day. Becoming a Lector has helped me become more focused on the message of the readings. I always ask the Lord for help in proclaiming His message so that it touches the listeners.

Why am I a follower of the Lord Jesus?

It started with a strong religious upbringing. My parents, Chris and Walt, were strong believers in the Catholic Faith. They had us attend St. Tarcisius grammar school and St. Patrick High School in Chicago. Chris and Walt prayed the rosary every night and we all attended Mass every Sunday. That strong Faith remained with me in College and remains to today.

How do I follow him?

I have not always chosen the right path in every situation. We are all human. But more times than not, I ask myself what would my Dad do? When I take that path, perform that task, say and do the right thing, I get a warm feeling inside knowing that that is what Christ wants me to do.

Why am I a follower of the Lord Jesus?

I am a follower of the Lord Jesus because His Father created me, and through Baptism and the other sacraments I have grown in Christ. Jesus has a path for me and I pray I do better every day to fill His heart with joy. I continue to walk with Jesus in love and appreciate the simple things in life and of all of His creation. My manner of giving and praying for others feels so rewarding and uplifting. Doing small things for His children (thy neighbors) is fulfilling to Jesus, myself and His loved ones.

How do I follow him?

I follow Jesus by praying to Him and His mother Mary. Prayer and adoration are my meditation and togetherness times. This is when He shows me the way. I never feel alone. Jesus and His Blessed Mother are always with me. His healing power of faith and mercy are cleansing for my mind, body and soul. Jesus and His followers fill my heart with Joy. “I Believe…”

Happy Mother's Day!

Why am I a follower of the Lord Jesus?

I am a follower of Jesus because I believe in Love. God is Love! He "so loved the world that He sent His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life". (John 3:16) Our hope is in Jesus who died to save us from our sins...the ultimate act of Love!

How do I follow him?

To follow Him, I need to know Him. I can do that by reading about Him in the Scriptures and by forming a relationship with Him. Each day I spend time in prayer and worship, listening to His voice guiding me to live in hope and especially, sharing His message of Love.

Why am I a follower of the Lord Jesus?

As a lifelong Catholic, I was raised to believe that Jesus Christ is the Lord. I was a nominal Catholic in my younger years and I feel that I did not really live my faith. As I grew older, however, and life put hallenges in my way, I came to know through personal experience and experiences of others that Jesus will guide us if we will only give Him the opportunity.

How do I follow him?

I strive to come closer to Jesus through prayer, attending daily Mass, taking the opportunity to continue to grow in my faith through adult education classes, and by volunteering in various ministries here at St. Walter. As Jesus loves us, I try to show love to others by helping out where I can even if it is merely giving someone a smile.

Why am I a follower of the Lord Jesus?

I am indebted to many genera- tions of family for my strong Catholic roots and to the many resources that sustain my ongoing faith formation. Eucharist as sacrament and sacrifice, and the perpetual acts of mercy and grace that I have been blessed with are the gifts I recognize as Christ's unconditional love for us.

How do I follow him?

I try to be faithful to Jesus' command to love one another in little things throughout the day by being sincere, gracious, and thankful to others...at work, in community, and with family, through communication, acts of kindness, and prayer. Not always easy or within my comfort zone!

Why am I a follower of the Lord Jesus?

Jesus calls us all. Following Jesus is my response to His call. His call is merciful and he has showered me

that transcends everything we can imagine, and He has called me to be a part of that love.

How do I follow him?
I follow Jesus by sharing with others the love He has given me. I put my trust in Him so I can be merciful as He is merciful, show love as He loves and serve others. Why am I a follower of the Lord Jesus?

God's calling to me began about 15 years ago when I listened to a CD recording of the rosary. On it was the Divine Mercy Chaplet. I became curious about its origin and read St. Faustina's life. It set me on a journey that changed my life. I now have so much faith in Jesus because I have learned to trust Him completely. The peace and serenity that comes from knowing God has total control of my life is overwhelming. Now that I do not worry about my life, I can reach out to others.

How do I follow him?

I do a Communion Service Ministry at Alexian Brothers Hospital twice a month. When I end my service, I bring out a Divine Mercy Chaplet brochure so I can offer the same healing qualities that this chaplet has brought to me. This is my way of evangelizing and I see the joy of many when they receive one.

Why am I a follower of the Lord Jesus?

I am a follower of our precious and beloved Lord Jesus because he gives everyone strength and hope. He allows anyone to come to him without any hesitation. He fills not only my heart with compassion, but billions of others also. His encouragement spreads immensely across the world spreading love and joy.

How do I follow him?
I follow the Lord by listening to each and every one of His callings. I put all of my trust in him wherever He leads me, even if at the time I don't see His purpose. The Lord has filled my soul with compassion and love for the sick, which I feel has led to my calling to become a nurse. I truly believe that everything that happens to me happens for a reason that specifically occurred in my life due to the loving actions of our Lord Jesus. I follow him by believing in Him and His power to love and His purposeful callings that we should all take!

I attend daily Mass several days a week, I pray daily, I am an affiliate of the Servants of the Holy Heart of Mary, I seek to know more about the Lord through my ongoing studies, I attend Pilgrimages, I am involved in several ministries; Faith Network Desk, Mountaintop Schools, SAM, and Bereavement. I am a Proclaimer on Saturday mornings. I teach Religious Ed to my 7th grade great-niece who will be onfirmed next year. I am ever seeking to get closer to Jesus and Mary. I recently attended the 33 Days to Merciful Love class.  We were consecrated to the Heart of Jesus on December 8.

Why am I a follower of Jesus?

Tbe raaaon why I am a follower of the Lord Jesus Chrlat la because of evidenoe. I believe because there is evidence of Hirn and everything else we the people know about our Faith. Without the evidence, we wouldn't know what happened before we ware born. I am raised a Cathoic and Catholics believe as do I, because Jesus told Peter "upon this Rock, I will buikl my church". Pater then evolved the Church to help us beleve and becorne followers of Our Savior Jesus.

How do Ifollow Him?

I follow Jesus by believing, being raised Calholic, being a servant of the Lord, a Dlsclple, an Altar Server,
a Messinger, worshippiing Jesus and being a son of God.

Why am I a follower of Jesus?

Nineteen years ago, I unknowingly rekindled my faith after attending a Men's Cursillo weekend.  I realized that God had a plan for me and that was when I knew that for me, first and foremost, I had to get my family to heaven, and then my friends and others.

How do I follow Him?
I try to live my life according to God's plan for me in a way that will hopefully attract and pique he interest of my family.  With that action it may cause them to do the same or something similar. I say a prayer to the Holy Spirit each day: Holy Spirit lead me, guide me, direct me and keep me focused with purpose and passion to do Your will, be more Christ-like and put on the face and mind of Christ. Prayer, service and being a daily communicant give me the Grace, Peace and Courage to live and bring the Gospel to others.

Why am I a follower of Jesus?

Because Jesus' presence in our lives is the only constant in this ever-changing, very insecure world. I am learning that the Lord Jesus will manifest Himself in countless ways when you need Him - if you allow it to happen.

How do I follow Him?

Mother Teresa defined holiness as doing the will of God in one's daily life.  I attempt this by using my gifts to serve God and others through participation in a few of the many ministries offered at St. Walter's; and by facing challenges head on and trying to recognize that some good will come from the challenges that I have been through over the last few months. Right now, I am in the ultimate "Let go and let God" stage.

Why am I a follower of Jesus?

First of all, who better could I follow but Jesus? It seems to me I have always followed someone during my life. As a child before entering school and also the youngest of four children, I followed my mother around. Which to me was great because I think she was one of the holiest person I have ever known. I will never forget her and I truly believe that right now she is with Jesus in Heaven. Maybe by following Jesus, I will see her again. Thinking of Jesus gives me a very comforting feeling.

How do I follow Him?

I do this by trying to go to Mass every day. Praying that He is with me at all times. Setting up the altar for Mass whenever I can. Being an alter server when I get the chance. And last of all, to give everyone I
see a smile.

Why am I a follower of Jesus?

As a Catholic family, we believe Jesus watches over us throughout our lives, during the good times and the times when we are challenged by tragedy or adversity. We believe He will always guide us on our faith journey and we listen to Him when He speaks to our hearts.

How do I follow Him?

We follow Jesus in our daily lives by learning and studying the scriptures, by daily prayer, and by doing whatever we can to help others. We are both active in the Cursillo Movement which encourages and teaches piety, study and action. We believe strongly that it is important to treat everyone with Christian love and kindness, to help those in need by charitable giving of our time and resources and to always be joyful disciples.

Why am I a follower of the Lord Jesus?

I follow the Lord Jesus, because he is merciful to the lowly and the  outcast. Both the greatest of saints and the greatest of sinners have the same opportunity to receive his grace. All we have to do is ask. In the moments when we least expect Jesus, there he is!

How do I follow him?

I follow Jesus by obeying the words his Mother spoke to the servers at the wedding feast at Cana, "Do whatever he tells you".

I am a follower of the Lord Jesus because I want to be a good and kind person and be like Jesus. I want to help others and care for them. Jesus died for our sins because He really cares about us. I want to be the best person I can be for Him.

How do I follow Him?
I follow Jesus by Altar Serving for my church and serving on Student Council at St. Walter School. I help around the house and do other things for my family whenever they need help. I try to be nice and caring to everyone I meet and I try to always have a positive attitude.

Why am I a follower of Jesus?

I am a follower of Jesus as I believe in God the Father and the Three Persons in One. I believe and have seen Jesus in my life everyday mostly in small but meaningful ways but at times in very significant ways.

How do I follow Him?

I follow Him by study, prayer and offering assistance to others by reminding them of Jesus and His mercy and love. I give God my life to guide me each day to show me the way and ask to accept His guidance and His will. Remembering and allowing Him to guide me each day, to show me the way and ask to accept His guidance and His will. Remembering and allowing Him to guide me in another means of following the Lord Jesus Christ.

Why am I a follower of Jesus?

I have been in love with the Lord Jesus for as long as I can remember...certainly as I was
preparing for my First Holy Communion and increasing daily since then. Jesus is Everything to me.

How Do I Follow Him?
Because Jesus is Everything to me, everything I do starts out by being motivated by Him, from getting out of bed in the morning, to how I choose to spend my free time, to what I prefer to read, to what amazes me and makes me happiest, to what breaks my heart. Like most people, I think, I am in constant conversation with Jesus throughout the day, and I pray for eyes and ears to recognize Him daily in so many ways. I am grateful to be living in a parish community that supports this goal.

Why am I a follower of Jesus?

I have always believed and followed Jesus since the time I was a small child. This was primarily through the example of my "Busha"; my Grandma. I see Jesus everywhere and that is why I follow him.

How Do I Follow Him?

I follow Jesus by giving of my time wherever I see the need. Over the last 40 years as a member of the Knight of Columbus, I have had many opportunities to do this. I am also a Eucharistic Miister. As I minister it brings me great joy to see the faces of the community as they receive Jesus. And finally, I try to model and support my family especially my grandchildren as they grow in their Faith.

Why am I a follower of Jesus?

As Catholics we are all called to be Disciples. For me, I believe that Jesus is my guide to a happy and fulfilling life. He shows me the right way and direction in my life.

How do I follow Him?

I believe in showing my faith and devotion by action. God gave me an example of helping others. Jesus taught us that many will to His Word, but it is acting as he taught us that is essential. Being involved in many ministries and a catechist at St. Walter lets me live as a disciple of Jesus.

How do I follow Him?

By using these gifts in many ways that give back to Him, and in ways that draw people closer to Him.  Some of these ways include helping with various groups and committees within our parish.

Why am I a follower of the Lord Jesus?

I am a follower of the Lord Jesus because I believe Jesus is the Son of God and that He came to earth to live, to suffer and die on the Cross to take away the sins of all and one day bring to heaven those who believe in and love Him as our Lord and Savior; confess their sins and frequently ask for God's forgiveness and mercy; and live according to the precepts which Jesus and the Catholic Church have given us.

How do I follow Him?

I follow Jesus by daily making a conscious decision to love and serve Him through my prayers and actions. I fully embrace putting the service of God Almighty at the very center of my life and recognize that, in the end, nothing else really matters. I am committed to following the 10 Commandments and frequently remind myself to consider the needs of others ahead of my own. I often remind my adult children of the importance of living this way.  I try to "keep my eyes open" for opportunities that the Lord gives me to do even small things for Him as I go through daily life.  Also, since retiring from full time employment, I have been able to serve the Lord in a special way by helping coordinate minor repairs and maintenance on our Church and Parish House buildings and grounds.

Why do I follow Jesus?

Because I believe Jesus is the Son of God. It is through Jesus that we come to know the Father’s love and mercy for us.

How do I follow Him?

There are a variety of things I have done throughout the years. I read Catholic materials such as The National Catholic Register Newspaper, Christ is our Hope Magazine, The Bible, and several of Matthew Kelly's books, along with other books which have been recommended by other people looking to learn more about our faith.  My prayer life has increased a great deal since I made my Cursillo 2 years ago. I try to attend weekday masses often and have grown to love to say the Rosary. I enjoy listening to Relevant Radio, Ave Maria Radio, and other podcasts on various Catholic internet sites. I have joined many small groups and ministries over the years, which is a wonderful way to get to know other parishioners on a closer level.  Not all the ministries or small groups I have joined were a match for me, but St. Walters has so many to try. When it is a match, it is easy to be a joyful disciple. If it is not a match, it is okay. It might not be the right ministry for you or the right time, but please keep trying. You can learn more about the different ministries at the Faith Network Desk in the Narthex. You might also see me there--a new ministry for me. I look forward to joyfully serving you.

Why am I a follower of the Lord Jesus?

I follow Jesus because of the joy I receive. Each day is a another challenge to look for that grace that Jesus offers.

How do I follow Him?

Receiving the Sacraments of Penance and Holy Eucharist are the first to come to mind. I try to make it to daily Mass, and before I get out of my car I read the daily Scriptures, and three other short study books with other insights on the daily readings. I am not the greatest listener, but I try to listen and not step on the person’s thoughts they are trying to get across. Another “how” is being a member of a few of the many ministries here at St. Walter’s.

Why am I a follower of the Lord Jesus?

I am a follower of Jesus “because He first loved us” (1 Jn 4:19). I first experienced this overflowing love of Jesus for me when I was preparing to receive Him for the first time in Holy Communion. I have tried to follow Him more closely ever since. He also reminds me, that though I may try, I cannot live without Him. I’ve learned that I wouldn’t want to live without Him anyway.

How do I follow Him?

The Sacraments and prayer are two tools that enable me to follow Jesus. I receive strength to take on all life throws at me when I receive Jesus Himself in the Eucharist, and through Reconciliation I am able to start fresh after I fall. Prayer allows me to grow in a living relationship with the God I encounter in he sacraments. I follow Jesus by trying to know his will and offering whatever little things I do throughtout the day to Him. I also try to imitate Mary by saying “yes” whenever someone asks for my help.

Why am I a follower of the Lord Jesus?

Two words, GRATITUDE and GUIDANCE. I am so grateful for the love and support that has surrounded me
all of my life, in all phases of my life. So many people! I am also grateful for an excellent memory that never let’s me forget this love. I need the Lord Jesus to guide my days. I frequently find it difficult to surrender, cooperate and trust. Being aware of this and praying about it makes me a work in progress in this
regard.

How do I follow Him?

The Liturgy of the Eucharist is very important to me. It is my regular source of Grace and Spiritual Strength. This Grace and Strength carries me through my daily family and work life, and also provides energy and insight in my ministry as a Catechist. I also belong to a group of faith-filled men, part of the Cursillo movement. Our weekly meetings are a source of love and support for one another, enabling us to carry out our roles as Disciples of our Lord in this world.

Why am I a follower of the Lord Jesus?

Life is a journey which we cannot go through alone; we need a purpose and meaning. Jesus said “come follow Me.” By following His example I believe my love for Him will grow and His Holy Spirit will guide me along the way!

How do I follow Him?

I start each day by clearing my mind to let Jesus in by thanking Him for the many gifts He has given me. I ask Him to enter into my heart and lead me in the way he wants me to go. I know each day is a gift from God. Then, I end the day by thanking Him again for the many blessings He has given me.
